Privacy Policy for BARFRatio (Android)

This Privacy Policy describes how BARFRatio ("the app", "we", "our") handles information when you use our Android application (package com.appkadag.barfratio) to calculate raw/BARF feeding ratios for your dogs, plan weekly meals, track your freezer stock, and log feedings. BARFRatio stores your dogs' profiles and feeding data locally on your device — no account is required.

The Short Version: BARFRatio stores your dog profiles, ration calculations, meal plans, freezer inventory, shopping lists, and feeding log in a local Room database on your Android device. We do not operate any servers that receive this data, and we do not have access to it. The Android version of the app is free and ad-supported, with no in-app purchases. Ads are shown via Google AdMob.

What we collect from you: Nothing automatically except what is required for ad serving (see Advertising section).
What you create stays where: On your device only (local Room database, never transmitted to our servers).
No accounts, no data upload, no in-app purchases.
Third parties involved: Google AdMob (ads). That's it.

1. Information You Provide

The following data is stored locally on your Android device only. It is never transmitted to our servers, because we do not operate any servers that receive this data.

Dog Profiles: Name, photo, species, birth date, current/ideal weight, activity level, goal, life stage, meals per day, and neutered status
Ratio Model: The BARF/PMR ratio preset you choose per dog, or any custom percentage split you define
Weight History: Weigh-ins you log over time
Meal Plans: Your generated or edited weekly meal plan (Wochenplan) per dog
Feeding Log: "Fed" timestamps plus optional stool/appetite notes you record
Freezer Inventory & Shopping List: Ingredients you log into your freezer stock and any shopping list entries generated or added manually
App Settings: Your chosen language, theme, and other in-app preferences

Android-Specific Storage: All data is stored in an on-device local Room database, sandboxed within the BARFRatio app. Android's app sandboxing prevents other apps from reading this data. No cloud sync is performed by the app.

2. Advertising

The Android version of BARFRatio is free and ad-supported. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions on Android.

BARFRatio uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use the following information to serve ads:

Advertising ID (GAID): Google's resettable advertising identifier on Android, used to personalise ads and measure ad performance. You can reset or opt out of ad personalisation in Settings > Privacy > Ads on your Android device.
IP address and general location (country/region level, used by AdMob for ad targeting and fraud prevention)
Device model and OS version (used by AdMob for ad rendering and frequency capping)
Interaction data (whether you viewed or tapped an ad, used for billing and fraud prevention)

Google UMP Consent (GDPR/CCPA): When you first launch the app, a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form is shown if you are in a region subject to GDPR or CCPA. This form lets you review and adjust your ad personalisation choices.

Google's use of data is governed by Google's Partner Sites policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

BARFRatio is built to collect as close to zero data as possible. Specifically, the app does not collect or transmit any of the following:

❌ Your dog and feeding data — dog profiles, ratios, meal plans, freezer stock, shopping lists, and feeding logs never leave your device
❌ Account information — BARFRatio does not require sign-up, email, or any account of any kind
❌ Precise location data (we do not request GPS or fine location)
❌ Contacts or Microphone

A dog photo, if you add one, is stored locally as an image on your device and is never uploaded anywhere.

4. Android Permissions

BARFRatio requests the following Android permissions:

INTERNET — required for Google AdMob to fetch and display advertisements.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS — used only to deliver local reminders (e.g. daily feeding reminder, freezer run-out warning) scheduled on your device. Optional; can be declined or disabled at any time.
Photos/media (if you attach a photo) — used only if you choose to attach a photo to a dog's profile. Optional.

5. In-App Purchases

The Android version of BARFRatio is free and ad-supported. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions on Android, so no payment processors are involved.

6. Data Sharing

We share data with the following party only:

Google AdMob — receives advertising-related data (Google Advertising ID, IP address, device signals) to serve ads. See Section 2 for details.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your dog profiles, ratios, meal plans, freezer stock, shopping lists, or feeding logs with any third party, because that data never leaves your device.

7. Your Choices

Opt out of personalised ads (GAID): Go to Settings > Privacy > Ads on your Android device and tap "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or reset your Advertising ID.
GDPR/CCPA consent: Shown on first launch if applicable; Google's consent form lets you adjust these choices.
Notifications: Disable any reminder at any time in the app's Settings or your device's Settings app.
Delete your data: Uninstall the app from your device to permanently remove all locally stored dog profiles, ratios, meal plans, freezer stock, shopping lists, and feeding logs.

8. Children's Privacy

BARFRatio does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require any account or personal information from any user regardless of age. AdMob is configured in accordance with Google Play's Families Policy requirements.

9. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Right to access: All your data is on your device, accessible at any time inside the app.
Right to deletion: Delete individual dogs, entries, or uninstall the app — your data is gone from your device immediately.
Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell data; nothing to opt out of.
Ad personalisation opt-out: See "Your Choices" above. For rights related to Google's data processing, contact Google via their Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we change how BARFRatio handles data, we will update this Privacy Policy and update the "Effective Date" at the top. For material changes, we will surface a notice within the app on your next launch.

11. Disclaimer

BARFRatio provides ration calculations for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed veterinarian or veterinary nutritionist. Always consult a professional before making significant changes to your dog's diet.
