Privacy Policy for Medborgarskapsprovet — Swedish Citizenship Test Practice (iOS)

This Privacy Policy describes how Medborgarskapsprovet ("the app", "we", "our") handles information when you use our iOS application to practice for the Swedish citizenship test (medborgarskapsprovet / samhällskunskapsprovet). Medborgarskapsprovet is an offline study app — your study data stays on your device.

The Short Version: Medborgarskapsprovet works fully offline and stores your progress, bookmarks, notes, and exam history locally on your iPhone or iPad. We do not operate any servers that receive your study data. No analytics SDK and no crash-reporting SDK are included. The app shows banner, native, and interstitial ads via Google AdMob to free users, and requests App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission to support personalised advertising. A one-time "Remove Ads" purchase removes all ads permanently.

What we collect from you: Nothing automatically except what is required for ad serving (see Advertising section).
What you create stays where: On your device only (local app storage, never transmitted to our servers).
No analytics, no crash reporting, no accounts.
Third parties involved: Google AdMob (ads) · Apple (App Store in-app purchase). That's it.

1. Information You Provide

The following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad only. It is never transmitted to our servers, because we do not operate any servers that receive study data.

Question Progress: Which questions you have answered, whether you answered correctly, and your accuracy statistics across categories and practice exams
Bookmarks: Questions you save for later review
Notes: Any personal notes you write against individual questions
Exam History: Your results from the four built-in 60-question practice exams (score, pass/fail, timing)
App Settings: Your chosen interface language (Swedish, English, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or Tigrinya), theme, and other preferences

iOS-Specific Storage: All data is stored in the app's on-device local database, sandboxed within the Medborgarskapsprovet app. iOS's hardware-backed encryption protects this data when your device is locked. No iCloud sync is performed by the app.

2. Advertising & Tracking

Ads are shown to free users only. A one-time "Remove Ads" purchase removes all ads permanently — there is no recurring subscription.

Medborgarskapsprovet uses Google AdMob to display banner, native, and interstitial advertisements to free-tier users. AdMob may collect and use the following information to serve ads:

Advertising Identifier (IDFA): Apple's identifier for advertising, used to personalise ads and measure ad performance. The app requests App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before accessing the IDFA. If you deny ATT, AdMob will show non-personalised ads and will not use your IDFA.
IP address and general location (country/region level, used by AdMob for ad targeting and fraud prevention)
Device model and OS version (used by AdMob for ad rendering and frequency capping)
Interaction data (whether you viewed or tapped an ad, used for billing and fraud prevention)

Google UMP Consent (GDPR/CCPA): When you first launch the app, a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form is shown if you are in a region subject to GDPR or CCPA. This form lets you review and adjust your ad personalisation choices. You can change these choices at any time in the app's Settings screen.

Google's use of data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google AdMob's EU Consent Policy.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

Medborgarskapsprovet is built to collect as close to zero data as possible. Specifically, the app does not collect or transmit any of the following:

❌ Analytics (no Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar)
❌ Crash reports to third parties (no Crashlytics, Sentry, Bugsnag)
❌ Your study data — your progress, bookmarks, notes, and exam history never leave your device
❌ Account information — Medborgarskapsprovet does not require sign-up, email, or any account of any kind
❌ Location data (we do not request precise or coarse location)
❌ Contacts, Camera, or Microphone

4. iOS Permissions

Medborgarskapsprovet may request the following iOS permission. It is optional:

App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — requested to allow Google AdMob to use your IDFA for personalised ads. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", AdMob shows non-personalised ads only and your IDFA is not accessed. Users who purchase "Remove Ads" are not shown ads and the IDFA is not used.

5. In-App Purchase

Medborgarskapsprovet offers one optional purchase via Apple's App Store In-App Purchase system:

Remove Ads — a one-time, non-consumable purchase (not a subscription — it never renews or re-charges) that permanently removes all banner, native, and interstitial ads from the app. The price is shown in the App Store at the time of purchase.

All payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card or billing information. Apple sends us only a transaction receipt indicating that you have an active entitlement. We use this to unlock the ad-free experience in the app. A "Restore Purchases" option is available if you reinstall the app or switch devices.

6. Data Sharing

We share data with the following parties only:

Google AdMob — receives advertising-related data (IDFA if ATT granted, IP address, device signals) to serve ads to free users. See Section 2 for details. Users who purchase "Remove Ads" are not subject to AdMob data collection.
Apple — processes the "Remove Ads" purchase via the App Store In-App Purchase system.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your study progress, bookmarks, or notes with any third party.

7. Your Choices

Opt out of personalised ads (ATT): When the ATT prompt appears, tap "Ask App Not to Track". You can also change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
GDPR/CCPA consent: You can review and update your ad consent choices in the app's Settings screen at any time.
Remove Ads: Purchasing "Remove Ads" eliminates all AdMob ads and stops AdMob from collecting advertising-related data within the app.
Delete your data: Delete the app from your device to permanently remove all locally stored progress, bookmarks, and notes.

8. Children's Privacy

Medborgarskapsprovet does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require any account or personal information from any user regardless of age.

9. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Right to access: All your study data is on your device, accessible at any time inside the app.
Right to deletion: Delete individual bookmarks/notes, reset your exam progress, or delete the app — your data is gone from your device immediately.
Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell data; nothing to opt out of.
Ad personalisation opt-out: See "Your Choices" above. For rights related to Google's data processing, contact Google via their Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we change how Medborgarskapsprovet handles data, we will update this Privacy Policy and update the "Last Updated" date at the top. For material changes, we will surface a notice within the app on your next launch.
