Privacy Policy for Shiftpad (iOS)
Effective Date: July 4, 2026 · Version 1.0
This Privacy Policy describes how Shiftpad ("the app", "we", "our") handles information when you use our iOS application to plan shift work, build recurring rotations, and receive shift reminders. Shiftpad stores your schedule data locally on your device — no account is required.
The Short Version: Shiftpad stores your shift types, rotations, schedule, and pay data in a local database on your iPhone or iPad. We do not operate any servers that receive your schedule data, and we do not have access to it. Local notifications remind you of upcoming shifts and are scheduled entirely on-device. The app shows ads via Google AdMob, and requests App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission to support personalised advertising. If the app offers a "Pro" / ad-removal purchase, it is processed entirely by Apple.
What we collect from you: Nothing automatically except what is required for ad serving (see Advertising section).
What you create stays where: On your device only (local Room database, never transmitted to our servers).
No accounts, no schedule data upload, no analytics beyond ad serving.
Third parties involved: Google AdMob (ads) · Apple (App Store in-app purchase, if applicable). That's it.
1. Information You Provide
The following data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad only. It is never transmitted to our servers, because we do not operate any servers that receive schedule data.
- Shift Types: Custom shift types you create, including names, colors, and time ranges
- Rotations: Recurring rotation patterns you define (e.g. 2 days on, 2 off) and the calendar dates they generate
- Schedule Entries: Individual shifts assigned to specific calendar dates
- Pay Data: Any hourly rate, pay period, or earnings information you choose to enter for shift-pay calculations
- App Settings: Your chosen theme, notification preferences, and other in-app preferences
iOS-Specific Storage: All data is stored in the app's on-device local Room database, sandboxed within the Shiftpad app. iOS's hardware-backed encryption protects this data when your device is locked. No iCloud sync is performed by the app.
2. Notifications
Shiftpad can send local notifications to remind you of upcoming shifts. These reminders are scheduled entirely on your device using your locally stored schedule data. No schedule information is sent to us or to any third party in order to deliver these reminders. Notifications are optional and can be disabled at any time in the app's settings or in your device's Settings app.
3. Advertising & Tracking
Shiftpad uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. If the app offers a "Pro" / ad-removal purchase, purchasing it removes ads permanently.
Shiftpad uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use the following information to serve ads:
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA): Apple's identifier for advertising, used to personalise ads and measure ad performance. The app requests App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before accessing the IDFA. If you deny ATT, AdMob will show non-personalised ads and will not use your IDFA.
- IP address and general location (country/region level, used by AdMob for ad targeting and fraud prevention)
- Device model and OS version (used by AdMob for ad rendering and frequency capping)
- Interaction data (whether you viewed or tapped an ad, used for billing and fraud prevention)
Google UMP Consent (GDPR/CCPA): When you first launch the app, a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form is shown if you are in a region subject to GDPR or CCPA. This form lets you review and adjust your ad personalisation choices. You can change these choices at any time in the app's Settings screen.
Google's use of data is governed by Google's Partner Sites policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
4. What We Do NOT Collect
Shiftpad is built to collect as close to zero data as possible. Specifically, the app does not collect or transmit any of the following:
- ❌ Your schedule data — your shift types, rotations, schedule entries, and pay data never leave your device
- ❌ Account information — Shiftpad does not require sign-up, email, or any account of any kind
- ❌ Location data (we do not request precise or coarse location)
- ❌ Contacts, Camera, or Microphone
5. iOS Permissions
Shiftpad may request the following iOS permissions:
- Notifications — used only to deliver local shift reminders scheduled on your device. Optional; can be declined or disabled at any time.
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — requested to allow Google AdMob to use your IDFA for personalised ads. If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", AdMob shows non-personalised ads only and your IDFA is not accessed.
6. In-App Purchase
If Shiftpad offers a "Pro" or ad-removal purchase, it is processed entirely through Apple's App Store In-App Purchase system (StoreKit). We do not receive or store your credit card, billing, or payment information — Apple handles all payment processing. Apple sends us only a transaction receipt indicating that you have an active entitlement, which we use to unlock the relevant features in the app. A "Restore Purchases" option is available if you reinstall the app or switch devices.
For Apple's privacy practices, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Sharing
We share data with the following parties only:
- Google AdMob — receives advertising-related data (IDFA if ATT granted, IP address, device signals) to serve ads. See Section 3 for details.
- Apple — processes any in-app purchase via the App Store In-App Purchase system.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your shift types, rotations, schedule entries, or pay data with any third party, because that data never leaves your device.
8. Your Choices
- Opt out of personalised ads (ATT): When the ATT prompt appears, tap "Ask App Not to Track". You can also change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
- GDPR/CCPA consent: You can review and update your ad consent choices in the app's Settings screen at any time.
- Notifications: Disable shift reminders at any time in the app's settings or your device's Settings app.
- Delete your data: Delete the app from your device to permanently remove all locally stored shift types, rotations, schedule entries, and pay data.
9. Children's Privacy
Shiftpad does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require any account or personal information from any user regardless of age.
10. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
- Right to access: All your schedule data is on your device, accessible at any time inside the app.
- Right to deletion: Delete individual shift types, rotations, or schedule entries, or delete the app — your data is gone from your device immediately.
- Right to opt out of sale: We do not sell data; nothing to opt out of.
- Ad personalisation opt-out: See "Your Choices" above. For rights related to Google's data processing, contact Google via their Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
If we change how Shiftpad handles data, we will update this Privacy Policy and update the "Effective Date" at the top. For material changes, we will surface a notice within the app on your next launch.
